Your Real Champion® – MANNA From Heaven
Sue Daugherty is a hard worker. She began working in her neighborhood supermarket when she was 13 and continued through college. At first she considered being a nurse, but missed the deadline to enroll. Instead she joined her friend in the study of nutrition. In her first job she developed a passion for taking care of patients with HIV/AIDS. Later she joined the staff at MANNA – an organization focused on delivering meals and hope to very ill patients with HIV. She then co-authored a paper which showed that providing adequate, medically tailored food for chronically ill patients markedly improved their medical status and lowered health care costs. Her work has had a national impact and she has been recognized with multiple awards and even addressed the US Congress.
