Lesley’s Place in West Chester is a nonprofit organization which aims to help homeless dogs become cancer-free and find a forever home, while simultaneously advancing research to help both dogs and women with breast cancer. Dr. Karin Sorenmo and Dr. Mark Cofone are a married couple, who met while training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Karin became the director of oncology at UPenn’s Veterinary Hospital and Mark was the director of a private animal hospital. Now in retirement, they established Lesley’s Place in 2021 and donate their services in honor of the life and work of their colleague Dr. Lesley King, who lost her own battle with breast cancer.
Each week, we highlight the Real Champions in your life! Your family, friends, or colleagues who go the extra mile to help others in their community.
