The country held its collective breath when Damar Hamlin, and more recently, Bronny James each suffered a cardiac arrest. What are the causes and how commonly does it happen? Dr. Matthew Martinez is internationally recognized as an expert in congenital heart disease and creating guidelines for athletes. He is the cardiologist for the Major Soccer League, the team cardiologist for the New York Jets and a consultant for the NFL, NHL, NBA and NCAA sports organizations. He also holds leadership positions in national and international cardiology societies.
