For 40 years, the Pals for Life organization has shown the healing effect pets can have when they share their love as companions to people feeling alone or stressed. The 80 volunteers bring their own pets to the elderly in assisted living facilities, along with those in hospice, physical therapy centers, college campuses, and corporate settings offering emotional health, social interaction and encouraging physical activity. The “Reading to Pets” program helps young students just learning to read to grow in confidence. And now they provide CPR and first aid courses to teach us how to take better care of our pets. Where people need pets, Pals for Life is there.
