Clostridium botulinum is a bacterium that can cause botulism, a serious illness caused by a toxin that attacks the nervous system and can lead to paralysis, breathing difficulty and death. Botox is short for botulinum toxin.

In small doses, the toxin can be used to treat medical conditions such as strabismus (misaligned eyes) and blepharitis (abnormal blinking or twitching). More recently, Botox injections have become one of the most requested procedures in facial rejuvenation. Tune in to learn more from Dr. Bruce Brod, professor of dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania.
