Philadelphia is rich in support for individuals with visual impairments or blindness. Tune in to hear about St. Lucy Day School for Children with Visual Impairments, Overbrook School for the Blind, and VisionLink. Collectively, they offer programs for children beginning at age three through adulthood.

Pam McGonigle was born with albinism, a lack of pigment in the hair, skin, and eyes. In addition, her vision was impaired from birth and continues to fade. In grade school, every student had to participate in the annual sixth-grade Olympics. When she won the track race, her running career began and took her all the way to gold in the 1992 Paralympics. She competed with the help of a guide runner but then went on to run to work each day with a guide dog. Now, she works for the American Foundation for the Blind advocating for people of all ages who have visual impairments to live fulfilling and independent lives.
