End of Life Care – Planning for our final days is a task that can be hard to face. EOL care is complex, emotionally challenging and unique for each person. Death can arrive suddenly or a person may linger in a near-death state for days or weeks. Dr. John Travaline is a specialist in pulmonary disease and critical care at Temple University Hospital and sees elderly patients with chronic conditions. He will discuss the importance of continuous communication among the patient, the family and the physician to maximize the comfort and support offered to the dying patient, along with loved ones, when the time draws near.

Your Real Champion® – “Super Sibs”
When a child has cancer we focus on treatment of the disease, as well as bringing comfort and hope to the patient and his/her parents. But what about the siblings of the sick child? Their daily lives are also disrupted, because Mom and Dad spend so much time with their brother or sister who is suffering. Alex’s Lemonade Stand is an organization whose mission is to change the lives of children with cancer through impactful research, raising awareness and supporting families. The “Super Sibs” program is a brilliant and thoughtful way to remember children in a family dealing with childhood cancer, when they might otherwise feel forgotten.
Each week, we highlight the Real Champions in your life! Your family, friends, or colleagues who go the extra mile to help others in their community.
