Your Real Champion® – The Cathedral Kitchen
Thirty nine percent of Camden’s population lives below the federal poverty level. The Cathedral Kitchen in Camden serves a real need by offering visitors a nutritious hot meal each week day and meals-to-go on Saturdays. In 2009 CK began its first job training initiative, offering Culinary Arts Training to residents in the area who are unemployed or underemployed, often at risk of becoming homeless. The original kitchen was started by four young people whose hearts were touched by a visit from Mother Teresa when she visited Philadelphia in 1976. CK uses food to change lives, and in the past 40 years has provided over a million meals.
Each week, we highlight the Real Champions in your life! Your family, friends, or colleagues who go the extra mile to help others in their community.
