Is Your Blood Thicker Than Water? On Saturday, February 11, our host Dr. Marianne T. Ritchie chatted with national expert Dr. Geno Merli to discuss anticoagulation. Blood thinners are used to prevent abnormal clots or treat ones that have already formed. Causes include atrial fibrillation, trauma such as hip fractures or joint replacements, prolonged sitting, and cancers. Clots can travel through the circulation to the lungs or cause strokes, heart attacks and other life-threatening issues.
