Your Real Champion® – During the 1970’s, there was a sharp rise in numbers of women experiencing homelessness and many were also drawn to drug use and drug addiction. Following their devotion to serve the poor and sick, the Sisters of Mercy founded a shelter called Mercy Hospice, where single women and mothers with children find a safe haven with meals, counseling, and job training as they heal and grow in independence.
