Alcohol use disorder was previously referred to as alcoholism. The U.S. is a nation struggling with rising numbers of patients dealing with substance use disorders. Opioid deaths have skyrocketed because of fentanyl, yet more people died from alcohol use in 2022. One in five deaths in people ages 20 to 49 result from excessive alcohol use. Maybe alcohol gets less attention because it’s legal, it’s accessible, and it’s socially acceptable. Tune in for this very important discussion and learn where you can get help.

Your Real Champion®: The Marguerite Schroeder Terrace of Hope and Healing

Marguerite Schroeder is a woman of many talents. She is an attorney with an additional degree from Rutgers School of Labor Management, but considers her most important achievement to be her degree in alcoholism. Her first message is that so many focus on the “getting sober” piece of treatment and emphasizes that the more important piece is “RECOVERY” – learning what creates the “urge” to reach for alcohol. A very wise psychologist told her, “You’ll know you have found your mission when your wounds become your gift.” And true to those words, she has found “unspeakable joy and contentment” in her mission to help others find the path to recovery.
