Learn about the difference between adoption and foster care.

Adoption is a permanent decision. The goal of foster care is to ensure a child’s safety and well-being temporarily with the goal of returning the child to their family once circumstances have improved. While in foster care, children receive love and support from foster parents, also known as resource parents.
