Update on Colorectal Cancer – Colorectal cancer is the number two cause of cancer death, so it’s common and often deadly, but preventable! The initial age for screening has been lowered from 50 to 45 because of the alarming rise cases in patients under the age of 50. By the year 2030, the American Cancer Society reports that according to a study in the Journal of the American Medical Association from 2021, it will be the leading cause of cancer death for those ages 20-49. Dr Robin Mendelsohn is an international expert on colorectal cancer and other GI cancers found in younger patients. She practices at Memorial Sloan Kettering, the oldest and largest private cancer center in the world.
