What you need to know about HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) – HPV is the number one sexually transmitted infection in the U.S. It can lead to warts in the genitals, anus, mouth, and throat. Initially, the vaccine use was recommended to protect women from cancer of the cervix. Now we know that HPV can lead to cancer in any of six areas including the cervix, penis, anus, vulva, vagina, and mouth/throat.
